is this a good pad?

i didn't believe the mouse pad is so important....

IMO, its hugely important. with the BF3 pad my aim was very jerky, with the Razer Goliathus its great

Mate, it is an amazing pad. You also get two surfaces with it, fast and control. You just flip it over and you have another side.

I had poor Y tracking playing BF3 initially - I've just updated to Firmware 1.6 and beefed up the Y sensitivity to 1.8. I haven't had the chance to see how much this improves the slow tracking but I expect it will make a difference. I never even considered that much of my problem may lie with using a standard mouse pad! After reading the past few posts on this thread I've decided to pick up a Razer Vespula tonight and give it a go this weekend. I'll report back with any details that may improve others user experience using the PS Elite playing BF3.

Thanks for the mouse pad information!

i've just bought the razer vespula and it comes to me monday or tuesday...hope it makes the difference so i'll be happy to spend 35 dollars for a mouse pad.
regarding the 1.6 firmware, i downgrade firmware to 1.5, 1.6 is very smooth but too slow (i increased sensitivity until 2.0....)

Just ordered one of these mats £32! Wow! Wife doesn't know yet LOL

I bought a gaming mat not long ago but I feel this is partially to blame. CoD works perfectly but is still a TOUCH jumpy. See if this works better

Been messing around for ages and found my preferred settings

Mousepad: Razer Vespula
In game settings: Max
Firmware: 1.5
Factory Profile: MAG V1.0
Mouse Sensitivity X, 1.2 and Y, 1.6
DeadZone: X, 51 and Y, 53
Aim Down sight: 1.0

Out of curiosity, are you still using these settings? Firmware 1.5 over 1.6?

Is there an advantage to using the Factory Profile: MAG V1.0 over BattleField3 V1.6

I'm getting the Razer Vespula Pad on your recommendation, btw!

Thanks

I've tried your setting. Still finding that the Y mouse speed is really sluggish. I cranked it to nearly 4 and the deadzone has me swirling around like a strung out meth addict.

Your settings were pretty solid for the most part in spite of this. Have you changed anything on the PS3 game settings? I'm wondering if I can set the game sensitivity itself to correct the sluggishness.

Any thoughts?

i've tried it too.like the previous, for me, these settings are too fast.so i decrease of one step the sensitivity (1.8-2.2) and i decrease the dead zone (51-53).now works good.my experience suggest me that in this game, this mouse can't be perfect at my favourite speed.if you qant a very smooth mouse you must play with low sensitivity, if you want the mouse faster you must accept a compromise (speed and lower precision).
so, now my settings are (and it's very similar to the version 1.5 settings):
x-y: 1.8-2.2
ads:1.0
deadzone:51-53

MMmmm, well my in game settings are on full.
I also don't have battlefield in HD, I set my display settings in the PS3 menu to 576p.

I have put my Sensitivity up .2 on each so X, 2.4 and Y2.6. I have also switched to the MAG v1.6, feels better. Could be just me though hehe

Ah - so you have your Sensitivity in the BF3 Options cranked to 100%?

Hmmm... I'll try that and see. I'm determined to find a balance. It's a pain for me to tweak the settings on the Elite. I have a Mac as my main computer and I have to use this dinky little netbook of my wife's to change anything on the USB dongle - you have no idea how much I hate that crappy little netbook!
