When you install 1.7 for the first time default movement is square. It's the movement model for the dual shock and suits the stick better, but for the mouse a corcular or round movement model is more natural and precise.
You have to activate it by pressing f and select. Press them and make circular movements on your mat so the mouse learns the surface. If you dont do that the mouse gets stuck or doesnt move. Just redo the learning if that happens.

Oh, yeah as stated before the dongle blinks twice if it is enabled. Mine blinks always twice so that indicator isnt foolproof but you feel the difference in accuracy.

Sometkmes to be absolutely sure i reinstall firmware and learn surface to get the circular movement.

Ok I thought thats what it probably meant I still can't seem to get this thing to be smooth even with my new mat...I got a razor kabuto gaming mouse pad its microfiber and everything that I understand this mouse is supposed to like. I guess I'll have to keep fine tuning to I go crazy. so teh higher the number on dead zone the smoother or mouse speed or what?

I have read the whole thread. I must have skimmed over that part. Thanks, I'll try that today along with the new pad.

Basically yes, but putting deadzone too high will give the feeling of aiming in water it smoothes too much so its a relation between mousespeed and deadzone that you have to find. If deadzone is too low aiming is twitchy and too sensitive.

Read the tweaks in this thread to optimize settings on PS3 and TV.

Try this: 1.7 and MAG profile bit better than BF3 after a lot of testing.
Mouse X 1.2 Y 1.6
Ads 1.4
Dzone x 55 y 57 or a bit lower

This is a good base from which to tweak via mouse.

Nano, I tried your settings with the BF3 profile and they made a significant difference. How does using the MAG profile instead improve things if all of your settings are the same? Things still need to be a little smoother, so I'm getting a good quality gaming mouse pad tomorrow. Then I'll try "learning" the pad as well and report back.

Remember to set the mouse sensitivity in XMB to slow, it helps abit in ADS. Where do you want smoother? At aiming? Do you find yourself engaging at long range? Then you might lower ADS.

The profiles are close to eachother but i feel that MAG gives me more precise movement, it feels that in BF3 profile the acceleration isn't canceled as good. This is purely subjective. As to how it is different when the settings are same, I don't really know exactly as Skrilla hasn' replied to my questions of how the profiles change from game to game. I imagine that the games have different movement and acceleration curves which the profile has to adapt to so to get smooth movement on the mouse.

You won't ever get as smooth a movement as in COD as it's 60fps and BF3 is only 30fps. Also the aiming lag is still there.

I play with the aimon mat. Maybe will try another if I hear good reviews for one.

Yes, mostly ADS is the issue. It's hard to make fine adjustments. It doesn't respond to small adjustments smoothly. It tends to jump a little. What do you mean by adjusting the mouse sensitivity in XMB to slow? Not sure what that means.

Nano,

Today I got an extra large, Steelseries pad and took the time to set it up and "learn it," with the mouse. I can't even describe the difference it made in smoothness I tried setting the mouse speed to slow in the PS3, but it felt just as good set at normal. That's the good part, but now my issue is that I have to basically max out the sensitivity in order to turn fast enough. I started with your settings, with the dead zone slightly lower at X53 and Y55, but I had to crank the sensitivity up to X4 and Y4.2 to get enough speed. Will lowering the dead zone allow me to run at a lower sensitivity? At anything less than max I'm using most of my 19 inch pad just to do a 180. Thoughts from you or anyone else would be much appreciated.

Hello guys, today I received Aimon elite, I did all the steps to install it and I tried a few settings you suggested (I now have these set Firmware: V1.6 MouseSpeed: X2.0 Y2.4 AimDownSighSpeed: 1.0 Deadzone: X50 Y56 ButtonResponse: High Profile: MAG V1.6/1.7) but the only real problem is that now I'm finding it frustrating when I have to follow an enemy with the viewfinder ... scrolling is not smooth but there are obvious lag or shots that do not allow me to have an accuracy Satisfactory! Have you also encountered this problem and then you managed to solve it through the setting? or should I try to play without HDMI cable? I play BF3 and I must say that the acquisition of the enemy is much easier with the mouse than the analog pad ... use the sniper is now amazing, but if I could eliminate this lag or shots would be better! ! and one last thing, I use this software AimonPSEliteSetup20111129, I find written in the PS3 HARDWARE SETUP V2.0, but under the mouse and the nunchaku is written V3 ... is normal or is there something wrong?

I hope in your help ... thank you!
sorry for the english ... this is google translate!
